Mai Gamal Scholarship for Feminist Research

Edraak Foundation for Development and Equality launched the “Mai Jamal Feminist Research” grant in gratitude and pride in her struggles and in recognition of all her contributions in the field of work on women’s issues and combating violence. This grant comes to facilitate the path for young female researchers and put them on the first path of their research career. Mai’s journey and her attempts at self-education were not easy, and that is why we wanted Mai’s passion throughout her life to be a reason to inspire and provide assistance to young women to continue Mai’s journey of producing knowledge for the Egyptian feminist movement.

The Foundation announced the launch of the grant during the memorial held on the twenty-fifth of this November, to complete the dream that Mai Gamal began by supporting feminist researchers in producing and developing their research that contributes to advocating women’s issues and combating gender-based violence.

This scholarship will be launched in November of each year, and will include a short fellowship to support young female researchers in developing their research projects and skills in the field of feminist research. Then, a committee will be formed to evaluate the research to select the winners, and the details of the first session will be announced in the middle of next year.
