Capacity building for women leaders

Edraak Foundation for Development and Equality organized, over four days, training entitled “Enhancing the Capabilities of Women Leaders in Society” for 18 girls/women from a number of governorates (Cairo – Giza – Aswan – Luxor – Alexandria – Gharbia – Qalyubia – Port Said – Assiut).

On its first day, the training covered a number of topics: the state’s strategy for population issues, the effects of gender-based violence, population and development, and reproductive health science.

The second day, which was entitled “Developing gender-sensitive legislation,” included a number of topics discussed, including analyzing legislation from a gender perspective, and discrimination against women within Egyptian law, “a model penal code.”

The training was on its third day under the title “Designing Effective Campaigns to Advocate Women’s Rights” and discussed a number of topics, including the concept of advocacy, its standards and levels. Formulate, analyze advocacy campaign objectives and select activities.

The fourth day discussed a number of topics, including the political organization of public authorities, the role of parliament, parliamentary tools, and the gender dimension in formulating parliamentary tools.
